About Myself

I am Dr. Neeti Misra, teaching physical chemistry in the Department of Chemistry of Acharya Narendra Dev College which I had joined in July 2003. I had started my teaching career in Kirori Mal College in 1996.

Educational qualification

I did B.Sc.(Hons) in chemistry in 1992 and M.Sc. in physical chemistry from Hindu College, University of Delhi in 1994. I qualified CSIR(NET) examination held in December 1993 and did my Ph.D. in copolymer-copolymer interaction with Professor S.K. Chatterjee, Department of Chemistry, University of Delhi.

My Hobbies

I like to read myfavourite books in free time. Nowadays e books are available on the internet on various sites like gutenberg. These sites also have books that are not easily available today. I also like listening to old hindi film songs on my lap top while I am working.

My other interests

Besides teaching in the college i am actively involved in creating course content for Institute of Life Long Learning(ILLL). I have also been involved with NCERT as subject expert. During vacations I sometimes work as a resource person with Vidya Bhawan Education Resource Centre, Udaipur. The Education Research centre is an institute under Vidya Bhawan Society. It is doing some pioneering work in improving school education. For the last two years I have attended the Upper Primary Science and Mathematics Workshops as a resource person. These workshops are organized for teachers trainers of Care India. These teachers' trainers group is a dedicated group and it is a real pleasure to work with them. To read more about the activities going out in these workshops read the page on these workshops.
Since 2010, I have become involved in training teachers in EasyNow techniques. EasyNow is a bouquet of easy to learn and use software for developing multimedia content. Most of these software are easily and freely available. EasyNow is a bouquet because it is open ended since each user can add more software to it.

Hindi typing

The content on WikiEducator pages can be created in many languages. I have tried typing in Hindi(हिन्दी). To type in hindi, the computer has to be configured for Dev Nagri keyboard. Many sites are available that help you set up the keyboard [1]. The font used for typing is a unicode font. For hindi I am using Akshar unicode. Once the keyboard for hindi typing is set up you can change the keyboard to hindi by pressing alt and shift together. Pressing these keys again will again set the keyboard to English. Here is my first attempt at typing Hindi directly on wikieducator.

Workshop on Open Education Resources

I was introduced to WikiEducator in the workshop conducted byDr. Savithri Singh in October 2008 . The workshop coordinators were Dr. Sarita Kumar of Zoology Department and Dr. Arijit Chowdhuri of Physics Department. The programme coordinator was Mr. Subhash Kumar also of Physics Department. Many teachers as well as students of University of Delhi had actively participated in this workshop. Some participants had come from outside Delhi also.

Since January 2009 I have been involved as a resource person in several face-to-face L4C workshops to introduce others to WikiEducator family.

The workshop was conducted by Acharya Narendra Dev College in association with Commonwealth of Learning(COL), Vancouver, Canada. The workshop was of four days duration. Two parallel workshops were held in which many teachers from the college and outside also participated. I was one of the facilitator of the workshop. It was a nice experience for me also as I gained much more while helping the participants of the workshop. The first session of 12th January was on Latex. It was an interesting lecture.
