Department of Education, Banasthali vidyapith is to be a trendsetter in the field of teacher education through continuous research and innovation while preparing and enriching teachers and teacher educators in all educational levels and settings. A special mention needs to be made of the B.Ed. (Enriched) programme (ANWESHANA) being offered in the Department. In this participative teacher education programme learner evolved his or her own knowledge with total flexibility and learner autonomy and in one of its kind in the whole country. It has been granted recognition by the NCTE and is well acclaimed by various institution of national and international stature. Banasthali vidyapith, situated in remote rural area of Rajasthan (India) is a unique residential institute for women’s education, seeped in history and tradition, in sync with the national values and at the same time imbued with modernity that seeks to enhance its traditions and values. Department of education, Banasthali Vidyapith has had a successful existence of almost four decades. It had its origins as the college of education in 1962, affiliated to the University of Rajasthan. Ever since, it has been engaged in the preparation of teachers for secondary schools. It also introduced Post-graduates and research studies in the field of education in 1965-66 by instituting the M.Ed. and Ph.D. Programmes. It has been one of the pioneering at the institutions in the state providing for studies in the discipline of education at the Bachelor’s Master’s and doctoral levels. It acquired the status of a Department of Education when the UGC was further elevated the Vidyapith as an institution Deemed to be University in 1983.
