Sequence
  • A collection or set of numbers, arranged in order, according to some pattern or law, so that one number can be identified as the first, and another as the second, and so forth; each number in the sequence is called a term. The word "sequence" is sometimes replaced by the word "progression".


Examples


  • Arithmetic sequence: [math]-5, -1, 3, 7 ...\,[/math]

  • Geometric sequence: [math]1, 4, 16, 64, 256, 1024, ...\,[/math]

  • Triangular sequence: [math]1, 3, 6, 10, 15, 21, 28, 36, 45, ...\,[/math]

  • Square sequence: [math]16, 9, 4, 1, 0, 1, 4, 9, 16, ...\,[/math]

  • Fibonacci sequence: [math]0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89, ...\,[/math]
