Your digital information literacy

In this course you will use a number of information sources and technology tools to support your learning and for interaction with the facilitators and other learners.

You will need to apply skills for using:

  • this WikiEducator site to access reading materials and (optionally) to collaborate with others;
  • Internet-based tools to search for and manage information sources that you will use in your inquiry and writing;
  • a blog for written work;
  • asynchronous and synchronous (real time) tools for interacting with others.

Please note

Make sure you also check out the digital tools and resources in the section on Managing information.

Activity

  • Take a few minutes to assess your digital literacy using the Atomic Learning Framework.
  • Make sure you ask to have the result emailed to you.
  • Reflect on the result - the most important area for this course is the first row (Text). By the end of this course you will probably be working at level 4 in each of the five columns!

Your personal blog

You will be using a web-based eportfolio for your portfolio activities. This means that submitting your assessment portfolio will not be done by using 'snail mail' or email, but by providing the course co-ordinator with access to your eportfolio.

Please note

Make sure you have a clear understanding of what's required for your Assessment portfolio.

If you would also like to use a blog as a learning journal, you should set one up now:
