The workshop is targeted at youth development practitioners, social development programmers, enterprise mentors, trainers and academia. The workshop will accommodate a maximum of 30 participants. Participants are expected to have minimum of an academic degree with at least 1 year experience in youth work, or a diploma with at least 3 years’ experience in youth work.
The sellection process is as follows ....
A four member Panel will be formed with two representatives each from CYP and ILO.
The panel will choose its own chair and make plans to execute the made including time(s) for meeting, etc. There will be no remuneration for the panel.
It is assumed that a number of 30 participants are to be selection from a wider pool of qualified applicants. To arrive at this, all applicants who do NOT meet the BASIC QUALIFICATIONS will automatically be disqualified. These may be waitlisted pending a manual review later should the panel decide to come back to it.
A series of discriminators will be used and followed in a sequential manner to arrive at the 30 people with the first discriminator being the fact that the applicants meet the basic qualifications as advertised. A buffer list of 10 persons will also be selected in should participants offered admission fail to take up the offer.
Other discriminators will be gender, experience in youth entrepreneurship training, geography, constituency, and other unique attributes.
The six steps will be as follows:
- Meets Basic Qualifications as advertised – applicant shall be a degree holder with at least 1 year experience in youth development, or a diploma holder with at least three years’ experience in youth development. This stage is generally a pre-panel stage and applicatants may be disqualified automaitcally based on the applications received and contents. It is therefore adviced that applicants take their time in filling the form as thouroughtly and truefully as required. The board may however recall all such applications for review. Further information and/or references may be required by the board.
- Experience in Youth Entrepreneurship Training – while we may select some participants with strong interest in the subject, the primary discriminator will be the fact that the participant has some experience in actually training young people in the field.
- Constituency – does the participant belong to an organisation/company with a broad programme to allow transfer of knowledge? IPYET, as a trainer of trainers workshop, will fail without this being a major criterion. This will also act as a catalyst for the virtual support programme. The modalities for this will be detailed out further by the panel. However, as an example, a director in a relevant government ministry specifically responsible for youth entrepreneurship training or youth employment may be edged UP the list as against a sole-proprietor with no apprentices/workers.
- Geography – by normal residence NOT nationality. Priority will be placed on countries that weren’t represented in the previous IPYET workshop(s). As a general rule also, effort will be made to ensure a broader participation of many countries to enable more country experiences to be shared.
- Gender – Male or Female? An attempt will be made to ensure that we receive an equal number of males and females. This has been put lower in the steps to ensure that all participants despite our attempt at gender parity are indeed qualified.
- Other Unique Attributes – this will be a detailed out further by the panel and will look for unique cases/stories that will contribute exceptionally to the objectives of the workshop. It will also ensure that places are given to some minorities, youth, etc.
The panel will document its decision and endorsed by all members. The decision of the selection panel is final and cannot be appealed. The panel may however decide to undertake further sellection processes or reccomend re-opening of applications as the may be required. The admissions coordinator will take steps to inform successful applicants immediately after the selection is complete. Should any participant offered admission fail to take up the offer within a reasonable advertised period, the available space should be offered to the next person on the buffer list per gender and per country in that order.
All application documents should be kept as a soft copy for a minimum of one year after the training. Hard copies of applications may be kept longer than a year depending on availability of space.

While we may act on this and other details provided by referees and third parties, admission of applicants into the IPYET programme does NOT indicate an endorsement of the information provided nor the activities of the person/organisation(s) by ILO or CYP. If at a later stage, the orgtanisers become aware of misrepresentation, the applicant may be withdrawn and necesary remedial action taken, which may include prosecution.
