Eating the right foods and responding to what our body needs is called having a balanced diet. This healthy diet contain nutrients from the different food groups, providing more than enough energy, growth and repair elements, vitamins and minerals for the body to function at peak efficiency. The benefits for food preparation have to be respected in order to ensure that food remains fresh and healthy for consumption.
Analyse the influence of socio-cultural and economic facts, religion, person beliefs, and choices related to eating;
Identify appropriate sources of information for products, services and costs related to eating well;
Identify the role of Vitamins, Supplements and Trace Elements in treating with nutritional deficiencies in the diet.
Develop an understanding of Life Style Diseases and their causes.
Identify selected diseases, their causes and how they could be prevented.

Definition of nutrition: The taking in and use of food and other nourishing material by the body. Nutrition is a 3-part process. First, food or drink is consumed. Second, the body breaks down the food or drink into nutrients. Third, the nutrients travel through the bloodstream to different parts of the body where they are used as "fuel" and for many other purposes. To give the body proper nutrition, a person has to eat and drink enough of the foods that contain key nutrients.
It is the act of feeding oneself.
Living Values Education Program (LVEP) is a comprehensive values education program. This innovative global character education program offers a wide variety of experiential values activities and practical methodologies to educators, facilitators, parents and caregivers that enable children and young adults to explore and develop twelve universal values. In addition to programs for classrooms and parent groups, LVEP offers special materials for street children, children affected by war, and children affected by earthquakes.
