Summary

Description
Čeština: V Etiopském údolí Ghibe metody na kontrolu much tse-tse vedené ILRI (International Livestock Research Institute) umožnily etiopskému dobytku prosperovat i na místech pro něj předtím nevhodných. To podpořilo rozšíření zemdělské činnosti v oblasti, což částečně snížilo nápor populace a půdní eroze ve vyšších, mouchami tse-tse neobydlených, polohách. Ovlinilo to například živobytí rolníka Worku Mengista natolik, že si nyní může dovolit zaměstnávat dva nádeníky na práci, kterou musel předtím dělat sám. Na této fotografii sleduje, jak orají jeho pole.
English: In Ethiopia's Ghibe valley, ILRI (International Livestock Research Institute)-led Tsetse Fly control methods have allowed cattle to flourish in an area previously almost uninhabitable for them. This has encouragd more farming in the area, relieving to a degree population and soil erosion pressures in higher, Tsetse free, elevations. Such is the impact this has had on the livelihood of farmer Worku Mengiste that he is now able to employ two casual labourers to do work he previously did himself. Here he watches on as they plough his field.
