To gain an understanding of this topic you will need to do the following:

  • Describe recent developments and security issues which relate to the Internet and describe the concepts of Internet culture and etiquette.
    • Relate recent developments to history of the Internet.
    • Include description of the Internet backbone.
    • Include discussion of how to minimise the security risks.

Internet Applications and Usage

To gain an understanding of this topic you will need to do the following:

  • Describe the main features of a variety of current Internet components. (e.g. Usenet, Electronic Communication, Telnet, FTP, search tools, World Wide Web)
  • Use current Internet tools in order to send mail and to locate and retrieve resources.
    • Current, relevant components.
    • Effective use of a wide variety of current Internet tools.
