Transport of soil by wind or water



Importance

  • Soil erosion removes the top most layer of the soil, which is where most of the nutrients required by plants, including crops.
  • Soil erosion also reduces the water holding capacity of the soil, leading to increased floods. It can also increase sediment load in rivers, lakes, and estuaries.
