There is a branch of economics called behavioral economics. What about emotional economics? Do economist deny the factor of emotion in purchasing? How about cognitive economics? How do human's thoughts affect their economic behavior?

Debt a country perhaps elicits anxiety in some citizens. To not have debt as a nation gives feelings of autonomy, freedom and independance.

Perhaps being able to create a debt creates feelings of relief for some.
