Assignment: Find an example of a simulation on the web. There are lots of simulations listed in the educational resource MERLOT http://www.merlot.org web site.

I chose this simulation because it deals with music which I listen to everyday. The simulation shows a demonstration of what it would be like if you had a music class so you practice : Chorus , pitch , rhythm , chords and etc.
  • http://www.coastonline.org/megill/skilltests/skilltests.html The simulations I found were based on learning and testing musical skills like beat measure, note recognition, and keyboard learning. There were several different exercises that used visuals to demonstrate and test students on their knowledge all while being interactive with the material. Very cool tools!

I chose this because I thought the description was catchy. An excerpt: Here's your chance to mix chemicals without wearing safety goggles. You won't spill any acid on the spectrometer in this lab. Choose solutions from the vast database and mix 'em together till the cloned cows come home. Marvel as the chemical solutions react in real time.
Just as the description says, you can mix chemicals to your hearts content. While the UI isn't that simple to use without a basic chemistry background, once you get the hang of it, it's pretty cool.

This is a website that contain 6 simulation on cardiac related learning tools. People can also use these tools to determine and find our more about their health status on the heart.
    • The site below is a one of the six tool that get my attention. http://www.skillstat.com/Flash/cardiacDictionary531.html
It is a dictionary in a simple format. People can click in to the specific team to the the definition and also there are tests to let the users to enhance what they have learn in the other section.

This is a physics simulation, simulating a pendulum. The simulation is supposed to be used to aid with learning about the motion of a pendulum and even has different ways to view it both pictorially and quantitatively.

This simulation is on the www.Merlot.org website. This simulation is a tool to help measure blood pressure. The simulation let me inflate the bag and release the air. Once the air deflated I had to answer the reading based on the sounds from the blood pressure machine. I didn't answer the questions well at first. But, after I got use to the sound and measuring the meter, I was finally able make the correct readings from the blood pressure simulations.

I selected the "Mathematical Visualization Toolkit" from merlot at the above website. The tool has the capability to plot 2-D and 3-D math functions online on the web. The tool also had the capability to plot complex functions. I felt that it would be interesting to use this tool in teaching plotting graphs to middle school and high school students.

This shows an engineering instructor who wanted to improve his teaching ability through the use of 3D rendering the simulation showed a variety of things including how certain gears needed to work together a physics model and how to assemble a

This simulation has to do with the game Monopoly and it teaches students in accounting to keep track of worksheets, financial statements, and spreadsheets. Seems like and entertaining way to learn a difficult subject.

It helps students gain experiences in farm business by running it for 10 years. There are a lots of simulation application on Merlot site, just click on search box and type "simulation". You need to registered to use simulation application.
