Overview

The OERu Culinary Arts mOOC design and development project aims to design an open online course with broad appeal which can be used by two or more OERu partners to support face-to-face learners on campus combined with the advantages of a parallel international online learning community.

The course would equate to 40 to 50 notional hours of learning (equivalent of 1 credit in North America, or 5 credits in New Zealand).

Summary of project status

  1. Chief Executive of Otago Polytechnic has confirmed a "bounty" amount of NZ$15,000 which can be allocated to outsourcing services to support the development of the course on condition that outputs of the course are used locally for teaching at Otago Polytechnic.
  2. Initial discussions among colleagues from Thompson Rivers University, Otago Polytechnic and BCcampus have agreed that the project is worth pursuing.
  3. Current priorities:
    • Identify shared learning outcomes for the mOOC
    • Establish whether any additional OERu partners would like to join the project.
