THE BOOK SHELF

Here is a shelf full of resources which has been specially prepared for you as a DIET faculty






Overview

What it contains?

This section presents books that are classified under three catagories

  1. Essential Readings contain books which you are required to read and work on under one or the other section of the programme
  2. Desirable Readings contain whcih are strogly recemmended, though not essential, for you to read and understand.
  3. For Expanding your Knoweldge contains books which would help you to expand your knowledge base beyond the expectations of this programme. Some of them may be for those who are interested in knowing more on a topic and others are for those who seek to specialise in an area.


You are required to select and read the books according to your convenience. You may either read them in the electronic version or, if you can afford, take a print out and read the print version.

ESSENTIAL READINGS

I. Thought and Practice

  • Select any one of the following books. Read them carefully.
  1. Divaswapna
  2. DESCHOOLING
  3. Teacher
  4. Duishen

Prepare a brief write-up containing following points.

  1. what did you learn from the book?
  2. How could this book influence your work as a DIET faculty?

OR

  • Visit the site given below, from where these books are presented to you. Select any one book given in the site and prepare a brief write-up answering the above two questions.

II. TEN INNOVATIVE TEACHERS

Here is a collection of ten case studies of exceptional teachers. You are required to read them, of course at your convenience. Find out, in consultation with your colleagues/friends at least one teacher from your district who is innovative. Prepare a similar write-up on the teacher.
